🍑 Peaches ’n Cream Belgian Waffles
When North Carolina peaches are in their prime, we let them shine. Whether you’re here at the inn or recreating a little slice of your stay at home, this dish is summer on a plate—golden buttery waffles topped with warm, bourbon-spiced peaches, toasted pecans, and a sweet whipped cream cheese dollop that melts right into every bite.
You can dress this dish up or down. Use your favorite homemade waffle recipe—or hit the easy button with a trusty frozen waffle (no shame here!). The real magic is in the fruit topping.
Recipe: Bourbon Peaches with Cream Waffles
(serves 4, just double for 8 like we do at Inn on Turner)
🍑 Bourbon Peach
Ingredients:
- 4 fresh ripe North Carolina peach halves
- ½ cup brown sugar
- ¼ cup bourbon
- 1 tsp ground ginger
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- ¼ cup peach nectar or juice
- ¼ cup pecans (roughly chopped)
- 1 tbsp butter
Instructions:
- In a skillet, heat butter over medium-high heat until hot.
- Sear peach halves, cut side down, for 1–2 minutes until lightly caramelized.
- Add brown sugar, ginger, cinnamon, and bourbon (careful—it may flame briefly!).
- Stir in peach nectar and pecans, then reduce heat.
- Simmer uncovered for 5–8 minutes until peaches are tender and the sauce slightly thickens
- Turn off heat, cover with a lid, and let rest while you prepare waffles and cream.
🍦 Cream Cheese Whip
Ingredients:
- ¼ stick (2 tbsp) cream cheese, softened
- 2 tbsp butter, softened
- ¼ cup powdered sugar
- 3 tbsp milk
Instructions:
- Whip room temp cream cheese, butter, and powdered sugar together until smooth.
- Gradually add milk, whipping until light and fluffy.
- Scoop a dollop onto peach serving just before plating.
